Health & Dental Plan
UPDATE FOR WINTER 2021
Effective immediately (but applicable for the 2021 winter term only):
All part-time students (undergraduate and graduate), new full-time undergraduate students (starting in the winter term), and full-time graduate students will have the option to purchase the Students’ Union’s health and dental plan on a one-time only basis for the coverage period of January 1 to August 31, 2021.
While health insurance plans are usually mandatory programs with opt out provisions only if alternate health coverage is in place, in light of the current pandemic, your Students’ Union has negotiated this access on an opt-in basis for this limited period. The cost will be $472.74 and will need to be paid up front in order to purchase the coverage. This option is also available to international students who have opted out of the International Student Medical Plan and are eligible for MSI basic health coverage. This does not impact undergraduate students who already joined the Students’ Union health and dental plan in the fall 2020 term.
If you are a new undergraduate student (starting in the winter term), a graduate student or a part-time student who wants to have health and dental coverage for the January 1 to August 31 period, please contact Patti Hutchison, Students’ Union Health Plan Administrator at email@example.com no later than January 29, 2021.
Effective September 2021:
All full-time graduate students will be part of the Students Union’s mandatory (except for students with alternate medical and dental coverage) Health and Dental Plan starting in September 2021. In August, students will be provided with information on the process to opt out if they can provide proof of alternative coverage. If you have any questions about the plan, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org .
2020 OPT-OUT DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 16TH
The MSVU Students’ Union operates a health and dental plan available to full-time undergraduate students attending MSVU. Students who already have health and/or dental coverage through another plan have the option of opting out of the MSVU plans. Opt-Outs must be completed prior to the set deadline to be granted reimbursement.
