Hello and welcome to the Mount! My name is Daniel McKenna and I will be your MSVUSU president for the upcoming academic year of 2011-2012. The new Students’ Union executive is looking forward to yet another amazing school year. We are focused on building our relationships with students, administration and faculty; increasing student involvement and of course building MOUNT SCHOOL SPIRIT!! The Students’ Union provides four essentials to you the students of Mount Saint Vincent University. We offer services, student advocacy, communication, student life and governance.

Our only advice to all new and returning students is to make sure you make the most of your time here at the Mount and know that the Faculty, Administration, FROSH leaders and most importantly your Students’ Union executive are here for you. If you ever have any questions, concerns, or input please don’t hesitate to stop by our offices in Rosaria Student Centre. We are looking forward to an amazing year here at the Mount!

Executive Vice President

Claire MacEwen

Well hello there!  My name is Claire MacEwen and I am your 2011/2012 Student’s Union Executive Vice President.  I am going into my 4th year of an Honours degree in Sociology and Anthropology with minor in French.  I am thrilled to be your VP Exec, and this year is going to be a blast!

As your Executive Vice President, I will be managing any Union publications, managing human resources, updating and implementing policies tailored to your student needs, updating and managing the MSVUSU website, and being a representative and advocate for all Mount students at Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) meetings and within the university’s administration.

This year, I am bringing you innovation and improved communication.  Exciting things to expect include a brand new website with constant updating, online publications accessible to all students to enjoy and submit pieces, increased the accountability of the Students’ Union, a dynamic new handbook, and a new creative yearbook committee!

Vice President Student Life

Julie Smith

Hey Y’all!

My name is Julie Smith and I am your VP Student Life for the Students’ Union. I am on the brink of finishing my Child and Youth Study Degree, here at the Mount.

As your VP Student Life, one of my bigger roles is to organize the 2011 Frosh Week! For the rest of the year I manage or assist in pulling off events such as pub nights, live entertainment, winter carnival, haunted house, Shinerama events, and just events that are all around fun! I also look after the creation and management of societies, and society related events that are affiliated with the Students’ Union that  take place.

My word of advice is that I hope that y’all take advantage of everything the Mount has to offer and get involved as much as you possibly can! There are many ways to become active in the Students’ Union!
