The 2018 MSVU Orientation program will run September 2nd – 6th, 2018.
Welcome Week for ALL MSVU students will run September 6th – 14th, 2018.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd
Welcome to MSVU! It all starts now because Orientation week is finally here.
10am – 5pm
Our leaders are on hand to guide you through the check points of the start to orientation week. They’ll meet you at the door and ensure you get where you need to go! Starting at 10 AM you can:
– Pick up your pre-ordered Orientation Kit
– Get registered for Shinerama
– Meet our student peer mentors
– Meet your orientation leaders and your orientation group
10am – 12pm
RESIDENCE RUMBLE: Residence Move-in
Rosaria Lobby and Terrace. Pick up your residence keys and move into your new home at the Mount! The Registrar’s Office, Financial Services, and Information Technology Services will also be on hand to answer any questions you have.

ABORIGINAL STUDENTS OPEN HOUSE
At the MSVU Aboriginal Student Centre. Welcome to all Aboriginal students! This is a special open house for you to visit the new Mount Aboriginal Centre, meet our Aboriginal Student Services Coordinator, connect with other students and find out all the Mount has to offer you.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS RECEPTION
McCain Centre Room 105. Welcome to all International students! This is a special reception for you to meet Mount student leaders and learn more about what orientation is and how to get the most out of your Mount experience.

RESIDENCE LIFE ORIENTATION (pizza & refreshments provided)
Rosaria Dining Hall. Welcome to all new Mount residence students! Come meet your new residence community including your RA’s, Don’s and fellow residence students. Find out what residence life at the Mount is all about. Then, meet some of the students in your Orientation group!

OFF-CAMPUS STUDENTS RECEPTION (light lunch provided)
Vinnie’s Pub & Student Lounge. Welcome to all off-campus students! Come meet the M-Team, pick up your Frosh Kits and welcome packs, get put into your orientation team, make new friends, meet other off-campus students and find out how you as an off-campus student can stay connected and engaged.
2:30pm – 3:30 pm
Starting in the Rosaria Lobby. Now comes the time you’ve been waiting for… meeting the rest of your orientation group and making new friends! You will be lead through games and icebreakers and this session ends in team photos :)
Seton Auditorium B & C. This ceremony marks the official start of your academic program at the Mount. Your Deans will lead you through your first (but not your last!) academic procession. Parents, family, and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend. Bring your camera and tissues!
NEW STUDENT WELCOME DINNER
Rosaria Multi-Purpose Room. The Official Kick Off to Orientation! New Mount students are invited to join university President, Dr. Mary Bluechardt, university faculty and staff, the MSVU Students’ Union, the Residence Life Team of Don’s and RA’s and your Orientation leaders for a unique welcome dinner to kick off the 2018 year!
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

ORIENTATION BREAKFAST – ALL NEW STUDENTS WELCOME!
Rosaria Dining Hall. Start off the day with a delicious meal served up by Chartwells, the Mount’s food service provider. Drop in for a breakfast you can enjoy with the M-Team Orientation leaders and all your new friends.

BECOMING A MYSTIC – ORIENTATION TO MSVU!
Rosaria Dining Hall. A MUST NOT MISS EVENT! Get the important survival tips on how to get through your first year safe and successful! Presented by your fellow Mount students!
11:30am – 2 pm.
THE MOUNT CARNIVAL
McCain Atrium. Start exploring now! This special Carnival will introduce you to many of the services and resources available at your fingertips on campus. Visit the various booths and get the inside scoop on campus wellness, fitness, recreation, campus jobs, counseling, volunteering, global exchanges, health services, your health & dental plan, and more. Each booth will provide you with a puzzle piece you can assemble later to enter into a great prize draw.

THE ONE STOP ESSENTIAL MSVU SHOP
McCain 105/106. There are many details to take care of when starting your year. We’ve assembled those essential “To Do’s” in one space to make it easier for you to get it all done. You’ll be able to get your Student ID taken and take care of other essentials like your UPASS, and MEAL CARDS! Plus talk to academic advisors and pay fees!

THE GREAT MSVUSU BBQ
McCain Courtyard. Join your Students’ Union outside on the Rosaria lawn for our annual orientation BBQ. It’s burgers, dogs, entertainment, games, and fun in the sun while you continue exploring the Mount Carnival! *Vegetarian/Gluten Free options available!
2 pm – 5 pm
Race around Halifax performing fun tasks with your new friends, all the while raising money for Shinerama and cystic fibrosis awareness. This is a DO NOT MISS event!
CHARTWELL’S WELCOME DINNER
Rosaria Dining Hall. Welcome new students and welcome-back returning students. It’s the annual Chartwell’s themed orientation dinner.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
BACHELOR OF EDUCATION ORIENTATION
Rosaria Multi-Purpose Room. Welcome, all new Education students to the Mount and to your full academic orientation. Throughout the day you will meet your fellow education students, faculty and staff and be introduced to everything you will need to succeed in your education degree.
9 am – 4 pm
ACADEMIC ADVISING & TESTING
Seton 302. Come to the Seton Academic Centre if you still have not received your Academic Advising or if you still need to take placement tests.
11:30am – 1 pm
Rosaria Dining Hall. This fair and lunch & learn features all info and services to ensure your wellness throughout your first year. Booths: sexual health, health office, counselling, pride centre, wellness centre, safety & Security, and recreation.
1 pm – 2 pm
McCain Atrium. MSVU Vice President Academic Dr. Elizabeth Church welcomes our new students to the beginning of your new academic journey. Make sure you have your class schedules because, after the academic welcome, students will be getting personalized academic tours of their classrooms by Orientation Leaders.
2 pm – 3:30 pm
DEAN & DEGREE MEET AND GREET
Your MSVU Deans and Faculty will officially welcome you to the Mount. Get to know your new faculty, meet current MSVU students and learn more about what to expect in your degree. Your Orientation leaders will escort you to your designated program area.
5:30pm – 7 pm
GRADUATE STUDENTS ORIENTATION
Seton Academic Centre, Room 404. Join the graduate studies faculty along with the Dean of Professional Studies and Education as they welcome you to the Mount Graduate family. Get all the pertinent information you need to start the next chapter of your academic career and university experience.
7 pm – 9 pm
GRADUATE, MATURE & TRANSFER STUDENT SOCIAL
Vinnie’s Pub/Student Lounge. Drop by Vinnie’s and meet other mature/transfer students. Enjoy some pub food, ask questions to university representatives in a relaxed atmosphere and be inspired for the exciting year ahead!

Seton Academic Centre Lawn. A fair line no other: get tons of free stuff, meet new people and local businesses, listen to great music, and play games! Going back has never been so fun!
